Plain-English ground rules for using the app. By signing up you're agreeing to these.
Acceptance
By creating an account or using Nora, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
What Nora is
Nora is a productivity tool that treats your phone time like a balance — focus deposits minutes, distractions withdraw them, and you can shield apps when you go into overdraft. You can lock in solo or in a Focus Room with friends you've connected with. Numbers shown are your own data, not money.
Your account
You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. If you switch to a different Apple ID or email, that signs you in as a fresh account.
Pro subscription
Pro is sold via Apple's in-app purchase system. New subscribers get a free trial — 7 days on the yearly plan or 3 days on the monthly plan. The trial is available once per Apple ID (Apple offers it once per subscription group, so it applies to whichever plan you start first; switching plans later doesn't grant a second trial). After the trial, monthly and yearly subscriptions auto-renew at the price shown unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged. Your Apple ID is charged at confirmation and on each renewal, and any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a paid plan. You can manage or cancel anytime in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Lifetime is a one-time non-recurring purchase with no auto-renewal and no trial. All refunds are handled by Apple at apple.com/support.
Minutes & cosmetics
Minutes you earn through focus or your daily allowance are an in-app balance used solely inside Nora to extend Screen Time on apps you've tracked. They have no monetary value, can't be transferred outside Nora, can't be withdrawn or exchanged for cash, and aren't redeemable for any real-world goods or services. Cosmetic skins are unlocked with earned minutes (not money), with one exception: gift cosmetics, which a friend can buy for you through Apple's in-app purchase system. All cosmetic skins are non-transferable digital items tied to your account. Refunds for any in-app purchase are handled exclusively by Apple at apple.com/support.
Acceptable use
Don't use Nora to harass other users, automate the app against our intent, reverse-engineer it, or interfere with how it works for anyone else. Don't try to misrepresent who you are. Names and handles you share with friends or focus rooms must not be threatening, hateful, sexual, or otherwise abusive. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users; accounts that violate this can be suspended or terminated.
Removing & blocking friends
Long-press a friend in the Friends list to remove them, remove and block them, or report them to us. Removing drops the connection but doesn't prevent the other person from re-adding you with a fresh code; blocking removes the connection AND stops them re-adding you via invite or QR. Reports open a reason sheet (harassment, spam, impersonation, inappropriate name, underage, other) and land in our moderation queue. We review them promptly, typically within 24 hours of receipt, and can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Your data
Your raw Screen Time and transactions stay on this device. If you use Friends or Focus Rooms, your balance, lock-in status, ghost skin, focus-room membership, and live timer times are synced to our server so people you've connected with or invited into a room can see them. We never share the names or icons of the apps you track — iOS keeps those private to your device. You can wipe your local data any time from Settings → Reset account, or permanently delete your account (local + server) from Menu → Settings → Profile → Delete account (in the Danger zone). Disclaimers
Nora is provided "as is" without warranties. Screen Time enforcement depends on iOS APIs we don't control; we can't guarantee an app will be blocked at the exact moment you go into overdraft.
Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, Nora is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from your use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months.
Termination
You can delete your account any time from Menu → Settings → Profile → Delete account (in the Danger zone). That permanently removes your local data, your server account, friendships, invites, and pending transfers. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
App Store
You acquired Nora through Apple's App Store. These Terms are between you and Nora — not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, isn't responsible for the app or any claims about it (including product liability, consumer protection, or intellectual-property claims), and isn't responsible for addressing your claims about the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you aren't located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and aren't on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country gives you a different forum.
Changes
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll surface it in the app before it takes effect. Continued use after that means you accept the change.
